Rodarte – Spring / Summer 2017

Inspired by the magic of Victor Erice’s masterpiece “The Spirit of the Beehive”, sisters Kate and Laura Mullevay imagine a tale of dark romance and burning passion hidden under layers of lace and ruffles with Spanish flare. Ethereal in their nymph-like appearance yet with a gothic soul, Rodarte’s women come in lightweight clouds of floating fabrics, wonderfully decked up with floral patterns and fine embroideries. Sensuality is subtly expressed through transparent chiffon dresses balanced with rigorous Victorian high collars, conforming to Rodarte’s signature mix of contrasts. The childlike imagination that shapes honeycomb laces and broderies matches a rebellious rock-and-roll spirit wrapped in perforated leather embellished with studs and fringes for a 70’s rock revival. Eccentric and dreamy, Kate and Laura Mullevay keep on thinking out of the box, while perfectly expressing the zeitgeist of today.
